If you've ever wondered what life might be like in the Sami tipi, or lavvu, then this clip should give you some idea. Part of a Ray Mears series set in Sweden, there's footage where Mears interviews a Sami reindeer herder, plus some historical footage shot in Swedish Lapland in the 1960's, plus Mears chatting to the reindeer herder's wife, seated around the central fire. In both interior shots, you get a very good appreciation of the homely atmosphere which the fire creates.
